Cards Kids Can Make

My eight year old niece loves to make cards, and coincidentally is the recipient of invitations to more than a few birthday parties throughout the year. As part of her Christmas present this year, I put together three 'make it yourself' birthday card packs - so that she would be able to bless her friends with handmade birthday wishes.
These cards are very simple; one girly, one neutral, and one more male oriented. I wanted her to feel like she had a big part in making the cards, but I also wanted the finished product to look great. In the end, I chose to pre-cut the paper and stamp the sentiments, making my niece responsible for glueing them together and adding the embellishments.
The cards were a hit; I found her working on them the day after Christmas (minimal adult assistance required) - much to my delight!
Now on to designing some Valentine's Day cards for my niece to make for her class!

One Last Christmas Card

On this last day of December I am squeezing in one more Christmas card. Here is the card that I sent out to our family and friends, inspired by the 'I love you' card in this post at My Paper Secret.

It wasn't too much work to mass produce, and to save my hands from writer's cramps I also stamped a sentiment on the inside.

Happy New Year everyone!

Simply Ornamental

SU!'s Ornament Punch is one of my favourites, as is this layout (see it here on another card I have done). Debbie Hughes of Lime Doodle made this card, and as you can see I have changed almost nothing - does sentiment placement count?

Christmas in Red

A crowd pleaser for those who like a more rich and traditional feel to their Christmas cards.

Merry Christmas

I made this card as a giveaway for a recent workshop. Such a quick and easy design, and isn't that designer paper lovely? It comes as part of a paper stack available in SU!'s Holiday Mini catalogue.

Christmas Advent Calendar & Activity List

What a wonderful and fun way to celebrate Advent with our children!

The daily activity is printed on the back of each card, which measure 2.75" x 3.5". I took an existing picture out of one of our Ikea frames and used it to anchor the calendar on the wall; without the frame the calendar looked a little lost. The rectangles are attached with pearl ended sewing pins which look rather pretty and festive. Despite the poor photo quality, the advent calendar looks great and I am excited to get started.

Here is our activity list for Advent:

  1. Choose a Christmas book to read
  2. Write a letter to Santa
  3. Decorate the Christmas Tree
  4. Read scripture

Snowflakes

The inspiration for this card was found here at My Paper Secret. What I love most about this card are the unconventional 'Christmas colors' - blue, kraft and black.
